Maaza
Maaza, a bay mare displaying rabicano characteristics, was born at Marbach State Stud in 2000.
Her sire, Serenity Habib, was bred by the renowned Serenity Farms of the late Hansi Heck-Melnyk. Serenity Habib was noted for his elegant conformation, expressive eyes, and classic Egyptian type. A son of Khofo, Serenity Habib traced his heritage to El Zahraa Stud. Serenity Habib became an influential sire at Marbach, where he produced outstanding daughters. Among them were Maaza, Dukna, and Moraira, all of whom were retained as broodmares at the State Stud.
Maaza’s dam, Maslama, was sired by Marbach’s homegrown stallion Moneef. This grey stallion was a son by Hadban Enzahi, out of Mobeba II by Ghazal. Hadban Enzahi, himself a product of El Zahraa Stud in Cairo, was imported to Marbach in 1955 and went on to become one of the most influential stallions in Marbach’s breeding program.
Maslama’s lineage traces back to Moheba, foundation mare of Marbach’s prestigious 'M' line. Moheba, a bay Dahmah Shahwaniah by Sid Abouhom, was imported from El Zahraa and was a maternal half-sister to the legendary Ansata Ibn Halima, who later became a foundation sire for Ansata Arabians in the United States.
Maaza proved to be a valuable broodmare at Marbach, producing nine colts and two fillies. Among her offspring was her firstborn son, Musab, a bay stallion by NK Bolbol born in 2005, who was retained as a breeding stallion for Marbach.
Now retired, Maaza continues to influence Marbach’s breeding program through her son Musab.
