Kuwait 1996
Kuwait was a chestnut stallion foaled in 1996 and registered in Germany.
Kuwait was sired by Kubinec (Balaton x Kosmetika), a Straight Russian stallion bred at Tersk Stud in 1987. Kubinec was World and European Champion Stallion and admired for his strong body, presence and expressive movement. Through Kubinec, Kuwait traced in direct male line to Bairactar db. Kubinec’s death on December 22, 2012, three days before Christmas, marked the loss of one of the most widely influential Tersk-bred sires of his era.
Kuwait’s dam, Jasminah (Mansuhri x Jarissah), was a representative of the long-established Murana I dam line, through the Jemen/Seerösle branch. This beautiful chestnut daughter by Mansuhri was bred by Walter and Adele Koch, well known for maintaining the traditional German bloodlines. Jasminah was a double granddaughter of Mansul, one of Germany’s most notable stallions of the 1980s and chief sire at Saalegrund Arabians of the Koch family. Mansul's pedigree included Polish-bred stallions such as Wisznu by Witez II or Halef by Enwer Bey, as well as to the Straight Egyptian mare Malikah by Ghazal. Jasminah’s granddam, Jaszirah by Kaisoon, was a foundation mare at Saalegrund Arabians and a key transmitter of type and character in this family.
Kuwait was a well-made, big stallion (he was 15.6hh) who impressed with his ground-covering trot and elegant frame. As a young horse, he had a successful show career: In 1997, he was Junior Champion Colt at Gieboldehausen and placed second in his class at both Aachen and Verona.
Later on, he started his career as personal riding horse and breeding stallion. Kuwait sired approximately ten foals in Germany. His most notable offspring was the mare Anatevka, who continued the line as a broodmare. The remaining foals appear not to have produced registered offspring within Germany.
In retrospect, Kuwait stands as a representative of the balanced, athletic and classically beautiful Arabian stallions. A horse of elegance, presence and sound construction, whose pedigree reflects the best from sire and dam.
