Om El Shabanu
Om El Shabanu was a chestnut mare, foaled in 1999. She was bred by Om El Arab and later acquired by Gestüt Am Wasserschloss in Germany.
Her sire is Estashan Ibn Estopa, a grey stallion born in 1989. Both his sire, Ibn Estopa, and his dam, Estasha, were by Shaker El Masri and out of the influential Spanish mare Estopa, making them full siblings. Estashan therefore carried Shaker El Masri and Estopa repeatedly within his immediate pedigree.
Estashan Ibn Estopa was also used as a sire, with offspring including Spanish Reserve National Champion Mare Nur Jahan.
Om El Shabanu's dam, Om El Shabana, was a chestnut mare foaled in 1994, at Om El Arab. Her sire was Estopa Son, by El Shaklan out of Estopa, while her dam was Bint Estawa, by Malik out of Estawa.
Om El Shabana also had her own record in the show ring. In 2005, she won her class and was named Senior Female Champion at Arabica, while at the German National Championships she placed second in her age group and among the Top Five senior mares. Besides Om El Shabanu, she produced a full-sister to Om El Shabanu in 2001 and a colt by Shakaar Ibn Sanadiva in 2004.
Om El Shabanu’s documented breeding record includes four offspring. Her first recorded daughter is SMS-Pashaba, a chestnut mare foaled in 2004. She was followed by Zaafirah, another chestnut mare, foaled in 2008. After imported from Belgium to Germany, she produced two further offspring: WW Shafeek, a chestnut stallion foaled in 2010, and WW Sarhan, a chestnut stallion foaled in 2011. Both were sired by Ahad Ibn Scha Ze Man and bred by Dr. Ulrike Weckenmann.
