Epifan
The grey Arabian stallion Epifan, born in April 2008, was bred in Poland by Piotr Helka and has been owned by Gut Meinfeld, Germany. Combining internationally influential halter bloodlines with a strong Pure Polish dam line, Epifan represents a carefully structured pedigree that has proven consistent both in performance evaluation and breeding results.
Epifan is sired by Psytadel (1998–2019), a bay stallion by Padrons Psyche out of Bint Bey Shah. Through Psytadel, Epifan traces to the Saklawi I sire line via Aswan–Padron, a lineage known for its global influence in modern Arabian breeding. Psytadel himself was an established sire of show horses and breeding stock, including internationally awarded offspring such as El Amin, Junior Male Reserve Champion at both the World Championships and the All Nations Cup in 2002, and Psynata, Junior Female Champion at the German Nationals and Reserve Champion at the European Championships in 2007. Psytadel served as chief sire at Swaenepoel Arabians, Belgium.
Padrons Psyche, Psytadel’s sire, was a leading influence in both halter and performance breeding in the United States. A 1991 U.S. National Reserve Champion, he sired multiple national winners and held the title of leading sire of halter and performance horses for many years. He was also sire of Magnum Psyche, another significant stallion in international breeding. The maternal side of Psytadel’s pedigree is equally influential. Bint Bey Shah, by Bey Shah out of Musks Angel Eyes, became one of the most important producing mares of her generation. Beyond Psytadel, she produced several notable daughters and sons whose offspring continue to perform successfully.
Epifan’s dam, Epimera, is a grey Pure Polish mare bred by Michalów Stud, descending from the established Milordka dam line. She is by Pesal, who achieved both Dutch and Polish National Champion Stallion titles. Pesal, representing the P-line family and tracing to Ilderim db, has sired a large number of influential offspring, including Endorra, Gotlandia, Zlota Orda, Girlan-Bey and Palatino.
Epifan’s early show career included a class win among three-year-old colts at the Junior Spring Show in Bialka in 2011, followed by a Top Five placement at the Polish National Arabian Horse Show in Janów Podlaski the same year. After his acquisition by Gut Meinfeld in November 2011, Epifan entered riding horse training. In 2014, he completed his rideability test in Aachen, earning a score of 7.5, and was subsequently presented under saddle in dressage, placing in various A and L level classes. Between 2016 and 2018, Epifan stood at AL Qusar Stud before moving to Gestüt Brune for further training. Since August 2020, he has again been based at Gut Meinfeld. A chronic suspensory ligament injury has limited further competitive appearances.
In breeding, Epifan has demonstrated reliability and consistency. His first offspring were born in 2013, with Meinfelds May out of the mare Maxima receiving multiple foal awards, including Reserve Champion at the Kauber Platte Championship and Foal Champion at the Aachen foal inspection. His most notable son is Meinfelds Maxim, also out of Maxima. Awarded with a premium title as foals in 2015, Maxim has been described as a very attractive colt with clear stallion expression and strong breed type, featuring a harmonious, well-balanced body, a well-developed shoulder, correct conformation, elastic movement, and good self-carriage in motion.Several daughters and granddaughters of Meinfelds Maxim were awarded premium foals or premium mares from the German Arabian Horse Association, indicating continuity of quality across generations.
