About Pege Star
Born in 1998, Pege Star, a grey stallion bred by Curtis Hyatt, stands as a notable representative of the modern Polish bred Arabian, combining proven athletic genetics with convincing results in both performance and breeding. As a Pure Polish performance stallion and long-time chief sire at Star Arabians, Pege Star has earned a reputation not only through his own career, but through the consistent quality of his offspring.
A stallion of generous frame and substance, Pege Star measures approximately about 15.2 hands, presenting a large-framed, correct silhouette. His movement has always been one of his defining attributes: ground-covering, elastic, and balanced, with excellent rideability points that made him stand out among his contemporaries. These qualities were recognized early in his career. In 2000, Pege Star was awarded a white ribbon at the stallion licensing show in Aachen, confirming both his conformation and his potential as a breeding stallion.
His most significant performance milestone came in 2003 at the Marbach stallion performance test, where Pege Star achieved an exceptional result, earning 120.59 points (before age correction) and placing as the best Arabian stallion of the test.
Several years later, in 2010, his overall quality was once more acknowledged when he was named Best in Show at the WAHSO show in Lautrach, demonstrating his lasting presence and appeal.
Pege Star’s pedigree reflects a purposeful fusion of racing excellence and classic Polish breeding. He is sired by the bay stallion Ege (Europejczyk x Etruska by Aloes). Ege himself proved his quality by becoming class winner at the Swedish Nationals in 2007. Through Ege, Pege Star traces directly to Europejczyk, one of Poland’s most outstanding racehorses, winner of the 1986 Polish Derby and undefeated with eight starts and eight wins, including the Criterium, Sabellina, Sambor and Bandos Stakes. Europejczyk embodied the rare combination of beauty and stamina and later established himself as a valuable racehorse sire. On the dam side, Pege Star is out of Poalma (Probat x Alma), descending from the Sahara db dam line, adding further depth, durability and genetic reliability.
As a sire, Pege Star has fulfilled expectations. With around 20 registered foals, including two half-bred Arabians, his influence may be numerically moderate but qualitatively significant. Notable offspring include Peges Kitsune Star (out of Kassandra) and Peges Eragon Star, both awarded premiums at the ZSAA in 2012. Breeding director of ZSAA, Peter Pracht emphasized in his commentary that Pege Star transmits his outstanding movement qualities without exception, achieving clear breeding progress even when paired with average mare material. Earlier successes were already visible at the Kauber Platte Championships in 2005, where Pege Pearly (x Tilaka) became class winner and Reserve Champion Foal, and Peges Ginnie Star (x Garantiva) won her class among yearling fillies.
In sum, Pege Star represents a stallion whose purebred heritage, performance credentials, and prepotent movement combine to form a lasting contribution to sport-oriented Arabian breeding—true to the ideals of the Polish performance tradition and proven through both testing and progeny. Now retired from active breeding, Pege Star leaves behind a concise but influential legacy, defined by athletic quality, correct conformation, and an exceptional ability to pass on elastic, ground-covering movement to the next generation.
