Shahalel Al Shaqab

Bred by Al Shaqab Stud, Shahalel Al Shaqab is an expressive daughter of Na-Mous Al Shahania and Siwar Al Shaqab.
Her sire, Na-Mous Al Shahania, is a 2015 bay stallion whose pedigree and show record have placed him among the most significant young sires of his generation. He is a son by FA El Shawan, a halter champion producer who died way too young.
With his big eyes and wonderful expression, Na-Mous Al Shahania conquered the show ring by storm, earning major U.S. titles including U.S. National Champion Yearling Colt in 2016 and Unanimous Gold Champion Colt at Scottsdale in 2017.
Genetically, Na-Mous stands at the intersection of several powerful influences. His sire-line traces to Saklawi I through Morafic, continuing through the famed halter dynasty of Marwan Al Shaqab. On his dam’s side, Na-Mous is out of Virtuosa MLR, making him a full brother to FA El Rasheem, Nations Cup Silver Champion Colt and one of the most notable sires of the current era. He is also a maternal half-brother to FA Rajjah (by Marajj), Brazilian Reserve National Champion Colt.
Shahalel’s dam, Siwar Al Shaqab (SMA Magic One x Abha Myra), adds feminine type and elegance through a maternal line with both beauty and historical depth. Siwar herself was Gold Champion Filly in Menton (2021) and crowned World Gold Champion Filly (2021), achievements that placed her among the most admired young mares of her year and cemented her status as one of the standout daughters of SMA Magic One at Al Shaqab.
Her dam Abha Myra—one of the earliest foals by Marwan Al Shaqab—played a key role in establishing Marwan Al Shaqab’s rise as a dominant sire of champions: Abha Myra was U.S. National Reserve Champion Junior Mare (2006) and later All Nations Cup Reserve Champion Mare (2008). Through Siwar Al Shaqab, Shahalel is also the full sister to Afreen Al Shaqab, a rising young stallion and champion on the Global Champions Arabians Tour in 2024, further demonstrating the consistency of this cross.
Shahalel’s dam-line descends from the historic Jellabiet Feysul/Wazira family, one of the most treasured desert-bred strains preserved at Crabbet and later influential across multiple global breeding programs.
Shahalel entered the show arena with unusual dominance for a yearling filly. Her 2023 season remains one of the most exceptional performances of her generation: She was Female Yearling Gold Champion Filly in Mention, Aachen and at the World Championships. These consecutive victories at three of the most prestigious events in Europe marked her as a filly of uncommon quality.
The year 2025 marked Shahalel’s transition from a celebrated yearling into a fully recognized young mare, competing at the forefront of the Global Champions Arabians Tour (GCAT). She was named Gold Champion Filly at GCAT Ajman, GCAT Muscat and GCAT Valkenswaard. Even at GCAT London, where she earned Silver, her presentation was widely regarded as one of the highlights of the event. Her season culminated in her most prestigious GCAT title: Junior Female Gold Champion at GCAT World Championships Supreme.
This achievement confirmed Shahalel as one of the leading young mares of her time, solidifying her status as halter show champion.
As she moves toward maturity, the Arabian horse world awaits her first foals with great anticipation. Should she transmit even a portion of her own elegance, type, and charisma, she will undoubtedly contribute to shaping the Al Shaqab legacy for years to come.

Alma Al Tiglio

Alma Al Tiglio

Alma Al Tiglio born in March 2008 and she was something special from the first breath she took. Bred by Giancarlo Buzzi in Italy, her lineage unites Russian and Crabbet influences through her sire with Polish, Russian, and Egyptian elements on her dam’s side.
Through her sire Ajman Moniscione, Alma Al Tiglio inherits the refinement and brilliance of one of the most recognizable modern sons of WH Justice. Ajman Moniscione rose quickly to prominence not only for his own show-ring successes, but for the unmistakable stamp he left on his offspring across Europe and the Middle East. His progeny became known for their luminous expression, animated presence and elegant balance. Breeders often speak of the reliability with which Ajman transmitted type and charisma—qualities that ensured his influence would reach far beyond Italy. His passing in 2025 marked the end of an era, yet mares like Alma Al Tiglio continue the legacy of beauty and refinement that made him one of the most talked-about stallions of his generation.
Alma Al Tiglio’s dam, Amanda Al Tiglio, is a daughter of Shamilah Masai Mara (by Warandes Plakat) out of Mahatma Ambra, also by Warandes Plakat—making Amanda a double granddaughter of the great Warandes Plakat.
Amanda’s maternal lineage carries the Roga El Beda family through Moniet El Nefous, one of the most influential Egyptian mares of the 20th century. This tail-female line is known for producing mares of strong reproductive prepotency, effortless femininity, and an ability to transmit beauty consistently.
Notably, Amanda Al Tiglio stands as the maternal great-granddam of Psyches Amber Gem, the 1995 World Junior Champion Filly.
Alma Al Tiglio enjoyed a show career that placed her firmly among the most admired mares of her generation. She first drew international attention as a earning her leading titles on the European circuit and confirming her ability to compete at the highest level. She was European Silver Champion Filly in 2009. The following season she returned with even greater maturity and presence, securing Silver Champion Filly at the prestigious All Nations Cup and later at the World Championships, where her elegance and femininity were widely noted by judges and breeders alike.
In 2018, as a fully mature mare, she reappeared in the ring at the Italian Nationals where she was Senior Champion Mare. Later that year, Alma Al Tiglio was awarded Senior Bronze Champion Mare at the European Championships—a testament not only to her enduring quality, but to the depth and longevity that define her dam line.
In Italy she left four foals for Il Moniscione, before she was acquired by Sweden Arabian Stud of the Ohlsson family. For that Swedish stud, she gave birth to seven more foals of which her daughter Alexandra O (by Excalibur EA) will continue her legacy.

Prieta

Prieta

The black-bay mare Prieta, foaled in April 1998 and standing approximately 15.1 hands, represented one of the most distinctive and influential broodmares bred and owned by Kapsch Arabians in Austria. From her earliest months she attracted attention for her rare, sought-after dark coloration and a presence marked by type, elegance and an effortless feminine charm.
Prieta first emerged on the global stage as a yearling when she earned a Top Ten title at the 1999 World Championships, an achievement that placed her among the most promising young fillies of her generation. Her quality continued to mature and she later secured major national honors in Austria, including Austrian National Reserve Champion Mare in 2004 and ultimately Austrian National Champion Mare in 2008. These accolades reflected not only her correctness and charisma, but also the depth of pedigree behind her.
She was sired by the Straight Egyptian stallion Thee Brigadier, one of the most notable sons of The Minstril to stand in Switzerland. Imported to Europe by Nayla Hayek of Hanaya Arabians, Thee Brigadier belonged to the celebrated Saklawi I sire line through Morafic, a lineage renowned for transmitting refinement, expressive heads and an unmistakable Arabian type.
Her dam, the pure Spanish mare LM Perla (El Perfecto x Move on Sambesi by Uranio), brought an entirely different but highly complementary influence. Bred by La Movida Arabians, LM Perla became the foundation mare of the Kapsch breeding program and produced five foals, four of them fillies. Her dam line traced back to Kadranka (1906), an important mare imported to Spain from the Polish Sachny Stud and a source of depth, substance, and reliability within the modern Spanish Arabian. LM Perla’s daughters contributed significantly to the Kapsch herd; while Prieta pursued a show career, her half-sister Pereskia served as a versatile riding and carriage horse for the family.
As a broodmare, Prieta transmitted both her beauty and her structural integrity with consistency. She produced six foals for the Kapsch family: Pieris (2003, grey stallion by El Sher-Mann), Patriot (2006, bay stallion by Padrons Starflight), Pellegrina (2007, bay mare by Padrons Starflight), Sassicia (2009, bay mare by True Colours), Kastor (2010, bay stallion by ABA Kalani Khan), and Puella (2011, grey mare by El Sher-Mann). Among them, Sassicia emerged as the most internationally noted show daughter, earning Top Five Filly at the Austrian Nationals in 2010 and Silver Champion Filly at the Festival du Cheval Arabe in 2011. However, Prieta’s influence extended beyond halter arenas: her daughter Puella successfully competed in endurance rides, demonstrating that Prieta passed on not only beauty and type but also soundness, stamina, and athletic capacity.

Makarjev

Makarjev

Born in 1991, the bay stallion Makarjev was bred by the Kossack Stud of the Den Hartog family in the Netherlands.
Makarjev was sired by Vatican, one of the distinguished sons of the great Kumir out of Nevesta. Vatican carried the Denouste sire-line, an influential performance line known for producing athletic, correct, and mentally robust Arabians. Denouste’s descendants were widely admired for their racing aptitude and stamina—qualities Vatican embodied and passed to his offspring. Vatican himself earned recognition on Russian racetracks, winning several Classic Stakes and ranking among the finest Russian sires of his time. Exported to the Netherlands and later retired in Jordan, Vatican died in 1998, but his legacy endured through a selected number of well-regarded get.
Vatican’s influence was also felt through his sons abroad. Notably, Makarjev was the half-brother to Mirok Monpelou, out of Gamila de Monpelou—a German Elite stallion who earned the title of German National Champion Colt in 1991. Through Vatican, Makarjev was also closely related to other notable breeding horses such as Takema (broodmare at Sax Arabians), Nikel (sire in France and the Netherlands) and Tersk's chief sire Mukomol, all sired by Kumir and demonstrating the consistent prepotency of this male line.
Makarjev's dam Mercuria, a grey daughter by Nadejni out of Muslina (by Muslin), was produced seven foals—three colts and four fillies. Many of these were bred by Heinrich and Maximiliane zu Fürstenberg in Germany. Among Mercuria’s daughters, Mercedes II (by Medalist) proved especially influential. Mercedes II founded a productive branch through her daughters Matrika and Marenah, both German Elite and broodmares for Vogelsberg Stud, who carried forward the Mercuria's line with consistency and quality.
Mercuria’s female family ultimately traces to the important Egyptian dam-line of Ghazieh over the Rodan daughter Gulnare. Gulnare was out of the Ali Pasha Sharif bred mare Ghazala who was imported into the United States and incorporated into Spencer Borden's breeding.
Makarjev’s life ended prematurely due to an accident in March 2011.
Although Makarjev himself was kept as a private riding stallion, never had registered foals and never was shown, his pedigree connects him to some of the most reliable performance genetics in modern Russian Arabian history.

Kwestura

Kwestura

Few mares in modern Arabian breed history have so completely embodied the ideals of their ancestry as Kwestura, the 1995 chestnut masterpiece bred by Michalow State Stud. Celebrated across continents and across decades, Kwestura stands not only as one of the most decorated mares ever produced in Poland, but as a global standard-bearer for Arabian type, elegance, and show-ring presence.
Her sire Monogramm—a son by Negatraz and Monogramma—would become one of the most transformational sires ever used in Poland, and Kwestura remains his most iconic daughter. Through Monogramm, she carries the powerful Bask sire line, while her dam Kwesta contributes the esteemed Carmen tail-female line that produced the legendary Comet.
From her earliest days, Kwestura drew attention for her near-perfect silhouette: a long, arched neck, a dry and expressive head, exceptional smoothness of body, and movement that seemed to float above the ground. Polish breeders have long remarked that there has never been a more beautiful yearling filly in the modern era. She justified this reputation immediately, becoming Polish National Champion Filly in 1996.
Her rise to international acclaim began swiftly. Kwestura was All Nations Cup Champion Mare at just four years old in 1999 and soon followed with the European Senior Champion Mare title in 2000. That same year, she earned World Reserve Champion Mare in Paris. Her two Polish National Reserve Championships (2000 and 2001) remain one of the great ironies of her career—she is the most internationally decorated mare in Polish history never to have secured a Senior National Gold title at home.
In the early 2000s, Kwestura was leased to Mike Nichols in the United States, where she proved equally untouchable. She never placed below first and became 2002 U.S. National Champion Mare, the first Monogramm daughter to do so. Her American-born offspring include the important mare Kashmir NA (by Bravado Bey V) and the performance gelding Kamelot NA+, by Jullyen El Jamaal.
Returning to Poland, Kwestura produced one of her most influential foals: the grey colt Kabsztad, by Poganin. Kabsztad matured into an international sire and show horse, earning titles including European Silver Champion Stallion in 2020. Her consistency as a broodmare would later continue in the Middle East through daughters by QR Marc, or AJA Justified.
Kwestura’s show career, however, was far from finished. In 2007 and again in 2009, she achieved the pinnacle of global competition as World Champion Senior Mare in Paris. In 2010 she added the Dubai International Gold Senior Mare title, and in 2014—at nineteen years of age—she returned once more to the spotlight as World Platinum Champion Mare, a distinction reserved for living legends.
Her fame reached another historic milestone in 2008, when she entered the Pride of Poland Sale as the star lot. After intense bidding, she sold to Ajman Stud for a record-setting €1.125 million, the highest price ever paid for a Polish Arabian at that time.
Today, at the age of 30, Kwestura enjoys a peaceful life in Germany with Elisa Grassi and Frank Spönle, still radiating presence and vitality well into her senior years. Long celebrated as the 'Queen of the Ring', Kwestura remains a living testament to the brilliance of Polish breeding and the enduring global influence of Monogramm.

Dongola

Dongola

When Wilhelm II of Wuerttemberg passed away in 1921, his daughter, Princess Pauline zu Wied, inherited the Weil Stud and its renowned Arabian horses. Driven by her passion for breeding excellent Arabian horses, Pauline sought to enhance the bloodlines by introducing Egyptian Arabians, including the distinguished grey stallion Jasir, imported from Mohamed Ali’s stud in Egypt. Jasir, sired by Mabrouk Manial and out of the noble mare Negma, became a foundation sire at Weil Stud. After Weil was dispersed in 1932, Jasir was transferred to Marbach State Stud where he produced daughters who left lasting legacies such as Jacaranda, Jatta, Isabella, Jemen and Jadine. Another one was Dongola.
Dongola's dam was the grey Weil bred Doris. Doris was sired by Dardziling, a bay stallion born at Chrestowka Stud of the Sanguszko family in Poland. Dardziling came to Weil as an exchange for Sonntag (purebred, Weil 1908), served as a sire at Weil from 1914 to 1917 before being traded for Djeiran to Trakehnen. In 1930, he was moved to Graditz, but his later whereabouts remain unknown. Known for his poor ankle joints, Dardziling was not considered a good producer.
Doris' family is still vital at Marbach today through her daughter Dinarsad by Dynamit.
Standing at 153 cm or 15.1hh, Dongola was a characteristic representative of Marbach's 'D'-line which still exists today: strong riding horse qualities and an elegant tail carriage but not that fine in type as the Straight Egyptians held at Marbach.
Producing no foals at the Swabian Stud, Dongola was purchased in 1935 by Landstallmeister Ehlert for Trakehnen.
Outstationed in Bajohrgallen/Goltzfelde, she served there as a broodmare from 1935 to 1944. She produced 4 Trakehner foals. In 1942, Dongola gave birth to her first Arabian purebred: Donata by Fetysz. Two years later followed her last foal, a full-brother to Donata. In 1945, Dongola, along with her stablemates from Trakehnen, was evacuated to Germany. However, she was captured by the Russians and transferred to Kirow Stud, together with her daughter Donata. Neither Dongola nor Donata was able to establish a lasting family in Russia, and their line is now lost for the Purebred Arabian breeding. However, Dongola's daughter Donna established a small, but vital Trakehner family, especially through her four daughters Donau, Donauwelle, Domglocke and Donnerwolke.
