Tiffany Bint Afuk

Tiffany Bint Afuk was bred by Jutta Mauch in Germany. Carrying 75% Egyptian and 25% Polish blood, she embodied both the elegance of her Straight Egyptian sire and the athleticism embedded in her Polish dam line. Though she possessed the quality to appear in the show ring—and did so successfully as a yearling—it was in endurance, performance and as a broodmare that Tiffany built her legacy.
Tiffany was sired by Afuk (Morhaf x Afrah Al Badeia), a classic Egyptian stallion who descended in direct male line from El Deree through Akthal, a sire line historically valued for its refinement and riding qualities. Afuk was an elegant chestnut stallion with a bright, expressive presence and for many years he served as a sire for Jutta Mauch’s El Samoa Arabians in Germany.
His sire, the chestnut stallion Morhaf was bred at El Zahraa in Egypt. He had been imported to Germany, where he helped lay the foundation of both the Al Sachra/Brigittenhof program and Karlstal Stud of Klaus Meyer—two significant names in German Arabian breeding of the 1980's.
Afuk himself was the older full brother to Moraf (1988), a grey stallion who should not be confused with their sire Morhaf. Moraf became known for his success in western disciplines.
Afuk lived to the age of 30, passing away in December 2015.
On Tiffany’s maternal side, her dam Tareefah (Kaisoon x Tykwa) was foaled in 1975 at Gestüt Ostenfelde, Germany. Tareefah’s sire Kaisoon was one of three famed Nazeer sons imported to Germany. The others were Ghazal and Hadban Enzahi. Kaisoon was long associated with the Zoo Duisburg, where he stood for many years.
Tareefah’s dam Tykwa, bred at Michalow Stud in Poland, added substance and athleticism to the pedigree. A daughter of Swedish National Champion Stallion Espartero by Naborr and out of Tryguza by the influential Trypolis. Her dam-line traces to Mlecha over the Wielki Szlem daughter Ambara who was later exported from Poland to the United States.
Tareefah was a prolific broodmare with twelve registered foals, mostly colts. Tiffany Bint Afuk was one of only two fillies she ever produced, making her a rare continuation of this branch of the family. Tiffany also had a younger full brother, the grey gelding Tarak Ibn Afuk (1993).
Although Tiffany was never intended to pursue a halter show career, she made an early appearance in the show ring: As a yearling in 1993 she placed second in her class at the German Nationals in Aachen, and later the same season earned a Top Ten at the International Championships at Aachen.
Tiffany Bint Afuk was performance tested and successfully passed her test within four weeks, demonstrating straightforward trainability. In endurance, she excelled.
Her most notable achievement came in 2007, when she won the Hegau endurance ride in southern Germany. That same season she competed at the Asil Cup in Marbach, placing third in the 84 km ride and receiving the Best Condition award.
Due to her years in active sport and her value as a riding mare, Tiffany produced a modest collection of offspring: five registered foals, consisting of three fillies and two colts.
Tiffany Bint Afuk died untimely in 2012 at the age of 20.
