Baccardi El Bri

Baccardi El Bri is a 2001 grey stallion bred by Ferdinand Huemer of La Movida Arabians in Austria. Though foaled into a breeding farm renowned for its show-ring success, Baccardi ultimately forged his reputation not as a halter horse, but as a remarkably versatile and willing athlete. His balanced combination of type, movement and character allowed him to excel across multiple equestrian disciplines.
Baccardi first attracted broader attention in 2004, when he was awarded the white ribbon at the German Stallion Licensing. There he caught attention by his expressive, elastic movement, natural suspension and a clear Arabian type.
Under saddle, Baccardi El Bri developed into an exceptionally capable and enthusiastic sport horse. Renowned for his forward energy and sheer enjoyment of being ridden, he proved himself in dressage, hunting and show jumping. His most notable competition achievement came in 2010, when he won the “Bairactar Memorial” in Germany in Dressage Class A.
Beyond traditional sport, Baccardi also mastered classical tricks including the Spanish walk, levade, and kneeling, demonstrating both his trainability and his strong partnership with his trainers.
Baccardi El Bri's pedigree reflects a thoughtful blend of Egyptian–Spanish influence through his sire line and established Spanish breeding through his dam. Baccardi’s sire, CH El Brillo (El Shaklan x AZH Basknaborra), was one of Austria’s rare direct sons of the legendary El Shaklan.
Baccardi’s dam, the Pure Spanish mare Porlamar (by Galero), was bred by Diego Méndez Moreno in Spain. A US National Top Ten Mare, Porlamar later became an influential broodmare at La Movida Arabians. There she produced several important foals, including LM Perlamor, European Reserve Champion Colt in 1996, and LM Porleen, Austrian National Champion Filly in 1996. Porlamar descends from the distinguished Pure Spanish dam-line of Verapaz.
The cross of CH El Brillo and Porlamar also produced Porla El Bri, Baccardi’s full sister, who was Reserve Champion Filly in Kreuth in 2001.
Though used only lightly at stud, Baccardi El Bri sired five registered foals in the German Studbook. Among them, the grey mare EL Is Alisha (out of SRF Aurelia by L.M. Perlamor) stands out. Tall, athletic, and supple, she mirrors her sire’s combination of sports aptitude, expressive type, and kind disposition, underscoring the genetic strength he carried.
