Alaa Al Din

Alaa Al Din was a bay stallion foaled in 1990, bred in Germany by Liesel Vetter. He should not to be confused with the better-known Egyptian stallion Alaa El Din (1956, by Nazeer).
Alaa Al Din was sired by Salaa El Dine, a grey Straight Egyptian stallion by Ansata Halim Shah out of Hanan. Bred at Katharinenhof, Salaa El Dine became one of the most admired sons of Ansata Halim Shah in Europe. He sired multi halter champions in Europe. He proved himself a valuable sire: among his most influential offsprings was RN Farida, one of the most beautiful Straight Egyptian mares of her time, and the British National Champion Stallion Crusader.
Through his dam, German Elite mare Hanan, Salaa El Dine was half-brother to Asfour (by Malik), who was exported to Australia where he became chief sire at Simeon Stud, and to Jamilll (by Madkour I), who was an excellent sire of Straight Egyptians in Germany and later in the United States.
On his dam’s side, Alaa Al Din traced back to Ashraff, a Straight Egyptian daughter by Mohafez. Ashraff was a half-sister to Salaa El Dine, as both were out of Hanan, the founding mare of Dr. Nagel’s Katharienhof Stud in Germany.
Ashraff became broodmare at Liesel Vetter's Stud. Through her, Alaa Al Din was half-brotheer to Ibn Jamil by Jamilll who was widely used as sire.
This may be why Alaa Al Din, as the younger half-brother, was used only sparingly by Liesel Vetter on her own mares, although he did cover some outside mares.
Alaa Al Din successfully completed his 100-day performance stallion test at Marbach in 1994 and later placed third in his class at the Bairactar Memorial in 1998.
In exchange for the stallion Bayyfire, he was leased to Italy in 2000.
He later returned to Germany, where he sired several more foals but was primarily used as a family riding horse. He made a striking appearance at the Egyptian Event in Dillenburg in 2006, where he and his rider performed in the show segment wearing traditional Arabian costume.
His last foal was registered in Germany in 2013.
